🔶 Aʙᴏᴜᴛ Tʜɪs Vɪᴅᴇᴏ – This video looks at a shortcut to resolve a velocity or a force into horizontal and vertical components or i and j vectors, using the Rec or Rectangular Coordinate feature. This is a method of finding both at the same time, but be careful where you use it. There may be circumstances where you must stick to using Sin and Cos of the angle.

How to use TI Nspire CX II to calculate mean, standard deviation, quartiles and produce a box plot

🔶 Aʙᴏᴜᴛ Tʜɪs Vɪᴅᴇᴏ – This video looks at finding summary statistics for a small data set on the TI-Nspire. We input the data into a document, set up like a spreadsheet from which the calculator can produce summary statistics including mean, standard deviation and the quartiles. We can then create another document which use the same data to produce a box plot showing outliers.

Working with Complex Roots with a Casio Classwiz fx-991EX

🔶 Aʙᴏᴜᴛ Tʜɪs Vɪᴅᴇᴏ – This video looks at supporting a method to find a cubic equation with unknown coefficients and known complex roots. By setting up an equation which involves a quadratic and using support from the calculator we are able to find the quadratic that gives the complex roots. Following that polynomial multiplication can get us back to the original cubic equation. We can then use the calculator again to verify our result.

Advice from AQA on Calculator Use In The A-Level Maths Exam

This video looks at a page from the AQA document A-Level Maths: The thinking behind great assessment http://tiny.cc/rfkw6y which describes how the exam board looks at calculator use. This video shares valuable insights into what exam boards expect you to know and use in the exam, where you can get marks and where you must show a calculator method.

In this second video we look at two exam questions from the 2018 A-level maths exam series from AQA.
A multiple choice integration question where you can get the calculator to do the calculation work for you.
A second question looks at exponential decay & shows how you can achieve marks whilst letting your calculator do much of the work. What’s important is the mathematical thinking without getting too distracted by lines & lines of calculation

The third video looks in-depth at a question from the June 2018 AQA A-Level maths exam. The question requires full justification for the solution the candidate must find. In the video we look at how you can use your calculator to help support a non-calculator method and how verifying your result can be a way of checking your method is correct.
