Advice from AQA on Calculator Use In The A-Level Maths Exam

This video looks at a page from the AQA document A-Level Maths: The thinking behind great assessment http://tiny.cc/rfkw6y which describes how the exam board looks at calculator use. This video shares valuable insights into what exam boards expect you to know and use in the exam, where you can get marks and where you must show a calculator method.

In this second video we look at two exam questions from the 2018 A-level maths exam series from AQA.
A multiple choice integration question where you can get the calculator to do the calculation work for you.
A second question looks at exponential decay & shows how you can achieve marks whilst letting your calculator do much of the work. What’s important is the mathematical thinking without getting too distracted by lines & lines of calculation

The third video looks in-depth at a question from the June 2018 AQA A-Level maths exam. The question requires full justification for the solution the candidate must find. In the video we look at how you can use your calculator to help support a non-calculator method and how verifying your result can be a way of checking your method is correct.
